Everest Cuisine and Motherland Nepal to Host Renowned Scientist Dr. Mahabir Pun

Everest Cuisine Restaurant, Motherland Nepal, and Skylex Immigration Services are pleased to announce an interactive session with renowned Nepali scientist and social innovator Dr. Mahabir Pun on August 1, 2022, at Everest Cuisine in San Jose, California.

Dr. Pun is the Director of the National Innovation Center in Nepal where he has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at bringing scientific knowledge and internet access to remote communities. His pioneering work applying wireless technology to improve the lives of mountain villagers earned him the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2015, often called the “Nobel Prize for Asia.”

Dr. Pun’s lifelong mission has been to uplift marginalized communities through science and innovation. Through the National Innovation Center, he has connected rural youth to opportunities in research and entrepreneurship that would otherwise remain out of reach. His work has kindled hope and transformed lives across Nepal.

Everest Cuisine President Anil Pandey says hosting Dr. Pun will be an honor, sharing “Dr. Mahabir Pun has dedicated his entire career to serving marginalized communities through innovation. His story and vision will inspire us all.” Everest Cuisine will provide a complimentary authentic Nepali lunch to all attendees.

Skylex Immigration Services Director Prashant Manandhar notes that Dr. Pun’s work helps bridge divides, stating “Dr. Pun’s use of technology to connect remote villages parallels our aim at Skylex to connect communities through our app.”

Motherland Nepal Founder Prince Yubraj Karki says the event aims to aggregate inspiring ideas and opportunities from Nepal while celebrating public service, explaining “Dr. Pun symbolizes the humanitarian values of giving back and uplifting others. His visit will be a great opportunity for knowledge exchange and community building.”

The interactive discussion with Dr. Pun is scheduled from 12 pm to 3 pm on August 1st. Attendees will have a chance to hear about his achievements, his work transforming Nepal’s innovation landscape, and the opportunities ahead. Participants will also be able to ask questions and share their ideas.

In addition to receiving the Ramon Magsaysay Award, Dr. Pun holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Nebraska. He has received numerous other national and international honors for his community leadership and service.

Organizers say they hope Dr. Pun’s visit will inspire the local Nepali diaspora community, especially youth, to seek innovative solutions to social challenges and give back to Nepal however they can.
