Anil Pandey: 35 Years Leading Everest Cuisine’s Cultural Culinary Journey

We are proud of our beloved President and co-owner, Anil Pandey, being a Nepalese-American entrepreneur as well as a great community leader with over 35 years of experience in his pocket. Anil moved to the United States in 1990 from Nepal after owing an ambition to open businesses that would introduce people to the vibrant culture, flavors, and spirit of his homeland.

In 1995, Anil opened Everest Cuisine, where he caters to customers in a cozy setting and genuine, innovative Nepali cuisine. Celebrating three years of service as the founder of Everest Cuisine neighborhood favorite, this restaurant celebrates Nepali food to promote cultural diversity and accessibility. His passion for sharing treasures of Nepali culture through food will continue to drive the evolution of the menu and community programming.

In addition, Anil founded Motherland Nepal. This 5013, nonprofit organization was registered back in 2005 for the ever-growing population of Nepalese in the San Francisco Bay Area. Events, advocacy, and scholarship are means through which Motherland Nepal preserves cultural traditions to empower the community and provide bridges across diverse groups. In short, the aim is for Nepalese culture to be vibrant, present, and intertwined with society.

Apart from spreading Dalchini, other famous places he is co-owner of include Mr. Pickle Sandwiches in Concord, CA, and MNM Thread Salon in Berkeley and San Leandro, CA.
Anil wants to take Nepalese food forward by making it popular as well as reaching eaters throughout California.

He enjoys his free time in cooking and trying new food, spending time with family, traveling, and photography. Good food and good customers have always been Anil’s mantra for entrepreneurial success. Resultant of this success is Everest Cuisine from a small shop to now being rated as a chain of restaurants.

Besides work, Anil enjoys photography and history trips to places in Nepal, time with family, and social contributions to needy persons. He owns ‘Voice of Country’, a published piece, and ‘Chi Musi Chi’ as a Nepali film producer. Of particular interest are the following: In 2016, he donated US $25,000 to the Nepali Community Centre; and partnered with Motherland Nepal to sponsor the Gender Equality Journalism Prize.

Food, community, and culture preservation-cynical circles of existence, that is, till Anil becomes the President at Everest Cuisine, steeped in Nepalese food with innovative recipes, an intimate ambiance, and meaningful experiences. Motherland Nepal will nourish and strengthen the voice of the Diaspora Nepalis while ensuring them resource access and further opportunities for intercultural understanding. He remains dedicated to his objective of spreading the joy of Nepal to all those he meets at genuine food festivals, events, and advocacy work.
